Living surrounded by public lands in northwest Montana, I get to meet people from all over the world – whether they’re thru-hikers on the Continental Divide or Pacific Northwest trails, biking the Great Divide, floating the rivers, visiting the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Bison Range, and so on. There’s nothing like getting to camp next to someone from half a world away, or a background very different from your own, and get to know them a little, if only for the evening, and connecting over the sheer beauty and joy these places bring us.
