Nature has a way of connecting us with each other and the world around us. My family and I enjoy traveling in an Airstream travel trailer and often spend time in our National Forest. During a recent visit to Gila National Forest, we were lucky to meet someone from the Apache tribe who shared with us the history of the Apache people in the forest and their connection to the land. As a result, we were invited to witness a sacred Crown Dance, which proved to be an educational and transformative experience. It gave us a unique insight into the land and its people that we would not have gained otherwise. This experience was especially profound for my daughter, who now has a deeper appreciation for the importance of protecting these lands.
